At the creek

Some of our best times as a family are when we just hop in the car and go exploring.  This is our favorite trail, we almost always find something new.  On this day the normally running creek was mostly dry.  Severe lack of rainfall made it easy to walk right up the creek bed instead of the trail.  We kept walking until we found some shallow water and oops, both kids fell in...accidentally on purpose.  Still, no complaining even as they were in wet clothes.  Early on, I told Sam to roll up his shorts.  Lily rolled up her skirt too.  Not that it mattered because they ended up being "sopping wet nature Vinsons" per Sam.

and the story continues on...

So proud of my courageous friend Kerry!  She now has a blog to continue Glory's story.  I know she has been writing for awhile.  I am so glad she took this giant leap to share some of it with us.  What a blessing that sweet baby was, but what did we expect, she was God's Glory after all...

My baby graduates kindergarten

.
My little tiny baby girl graduated from Kindergarten today.  Her next big graduation will be in approximately 12 years.  :)
She had a great year.  She loves school and was blessed by an outstanding teacher.  The program today was so cute, those teachers can train these kids to do anything!  Every single kid participated... singing, dancing, speaking.  I am so glad our school encourages public speaking at a young age!
There are many, many more pictures on LilyLand (which is her online scrapbook) and all the awards she received as well!

Sam

It's no secret Sam had a difficult school year.  There were many times he cried, I cried, even his teacher cried.  We made it through with lots of prayer, a little therapy, and tons of determination from everyone involved.  He has overcome!  You would never know that he had any trouble today at the awards ceremony.  He racked up 6 academic awards and won the citizenship award for his class!

Camping

Camping with the cub scouts.   The camp was near Booneville.  Not close to anything.  There was running water in the bathrooms, for that I was very thankful.  Sam has a great pack of scouts with some fantastic parents and leaders.  Lily is always happy to tag along, it happened that her friend Bailey was also there with her brother.  The lake had real life lilypads with blooming lilies.  You couldn't make our girl much happier than that!    Sam had a blast geocaching with his friends.  He graduated, "crossed-over" to the next level in cub scouts.

Mother's Day

My darling daughter popped out of bed at 6am this morning to give me my present that she so thoughtfully made at school and had been hiding under pillow for the last few days.  It was full of fun pictures and a list that said things like... my mom likes to shop at Walmart, my mom weighs 25, my mom's favorite vacation spot is hawey (Hawaii, sure!!).  Favorite time with mom is getting our nails done.  HA!
Sam had a similar paper with... my favorite recipe my mom makes hash brown, cook 1 min, 30 sec.  Poor boy, a frozen hash brown is the best thing I make!!!  His favorite thing when my mom tucks me in bed.  He drew a sweet picture of me tucking him in bed too.  Sweet, sweet kids.  I am so blessed to be their mommy.

most of the pictures looked like this...

Cake Boy!!

Sam, Lily and I made this cake for his cub scout cake and pie auction.  Yes, we did make it.  From a mix, yes.  The proof is in the pictures on SamSpace.  Blue and gold are the boy scout colors.  That's actually Sam's gold arrow point that he earned this year placed strategically on the ribbon.  The funny part was that the cakes go up for auction, like sold!  I knew we had to buy it back ourselves since it was on my nice black plate and to get the arrow point back!  It only cost us $21.  :)  Great news, it also won the People's Choice Award for best cake.

Garden

We are attempting a backyard garden again this year.  Last year was pretty dismal with the 115 degree temps.  Hoping for a more pleasant summer and the harvest of a few yummy vegetables.
Look at all those strawberries growing!
